Additional Products and Services

VRI offers a variety of adaptive switches that work with our medical alert units. These specialty switches enable persons with disabilities the ability to own and use one of our units which can help them stay independent and in their own homes longer.

Sip and Puff

Sip and Puff SwitchWith a slight sip or puff from the mouth this switch will trigger the medical alert unit which will contact the Care Center. The switch requires only a tiny amount of pressure change, so the user does not need a lot of respiratory strength to use this switch.

Tip Switch

Tip SwitchFor slight movements and those with little strength this specialty switch is not activated by touch. To activate, the tip switch needs to be raised 5 degrees from a horizontal or flat position. This switch can be mounted to a finger, arm, headband, eyeglasses etc.

Pillow Switch

Pillow SwitchThe pillow switch is an excellent switch for people with larger motor movements because it is able to cushion the force of their movement. If an individual has movement difficulties such as ‘stopping’ their movement, the switch will not be damaged. The switch is encased in soft foam and is in a removable, washable velvet bag.

Plate Switch

Plate SwitchThis thin membrane switch requires very little force or movement to activate. Just press on the colored circle and the medical alert unit will contact the Care Center. The low profile design of the plate switch allows your finger to slide and mounts easily with Velcro to various surfaces.

Monitored Smoke Detector

Monitored Smoke DetectorOur monitored smoke detectors provide an extra level of safety by contacting the Care Center when an alarm happens. When your smoke detector alarm is set off the Care Center can call to see if you are OK and ask if there is smoke or fire in your home. If there is they will tell you to exit your home and they will immediately call the fire department as well as your responders to make sure that you get the help that you need. The Care Center also receives an alert when your batteries are low in your smoke detector and can call to remind you to change your battery.

Key Lock Box

Key Lock BoxOur key lock boxes provide a secure location to place an entry lock key. In the event of an emergency the Care Center can provide emergency service personnel your lock box code so that they can get into your home quickly eliminating the need for a forced entry. With a key lock box you never have to worry about the wrong person finding your key.

Door Contacts

Door ContactsDoor contacts provide comfort to the caregiver of a patient who wanders. These in-home alarms alert the caregiver when the patient is exiting the residence.
